Meet Our Head Coach

Long Island native Mike Matias is the owner and head skills instructor of Flowlines MTB Skills Training. Mike is well-known in the local mountain biking community due to his vast skill set and range of mountain biking-related talents. You may have taken one of Mike’s clinics through C.L.I.M.B., seen him hosting TNRL (Thursday night race league) at Meadowlark Park, or perhaps he’s wrenched on your bike/tuned your suspension at your local shop. If you don’t know Mike check out more about him below!

MEADOWLARK PARK TRAIL STEWARD – 2012
In 2012 Mike became the trail steward of Meadowlark Park in Northport, NY, a C.L.I.M.B (Concerned Long Island Mountain Bicyclists) maintained trail. Since then, it has become one of Long Islands’ most popular technical feature-rich trails.

CERTIFIED AS PROFESSIONAL SKILLS INSTRUCTOR – 2015
In 2015 Mike was professionally certified as a Mountain Bike Skills Instructor and shortly after became one of the head skills instructors/ trail crew members at Mountain Creek Bikepark in New Jersey.

FLOWLINES MTB SKILLS TRAINING IS BORN – 2018
In 2018 Mike founded Flowlines MTB Skills Training, offering private mountain biking lessons, group skills clinics, & kids camps. Operating primarily out of Meadowlark Park in Northport, NY, Flowlines was instantly a huge success due to the high demand of mountain bikers looking to take their skills to the next level.

Over the years, Flowlines has had the opportunity to put on clinics for some awesome organizations such as Cliff Bar, C.L.I.M.B., Bicycle Playground, The Vicious Cycle, and Mountain Creek Bike Park.

THURSDAY NIGHT RACE LEAGUE (TNRL) AT MEADOWLARK PARK – 2019
In 2019 Mike began hosting TNRL (Thursday Night Race League) at Meadowlark Park, which is an entirely free-to-join Mountain bike race league on Long Island on Thursday nights where riders can put down their best lap times among a friendly yet competitive group of riders.

WHERE YOU’LL FIND MIKE WHEN HES NOT WORKING
When Mike is not doing private lessons or teaching group clinics, you can probably find him building features on the trail, out somewhere on the water fishing, or maybe even just paddle boarding into the sunset.
